Terms of service
The agreement between you and BookMack: what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.
Last updated: September 2026
Welcome to BookMack
These terms cover your use of BookMack on the web and in the Android app. They are written to be read, so please do: they include the limits on what we promise.
Your account
Agreeing to these terms
By using BookMack you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.
Who can use BookMack
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms on your behalf.
Registering
You need an account, and the details you give us should be accurate and kept up to date. You verify your email address before you can use the service.
Keeping your account secure
You are responsible for your password and for what happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access, and sign that device out from your settings.
Using the service
What BookMack does
BookMack catalogs your books, lends them to people you add as borrowers, tracks due dates, sends reminders and recommendations by email, and shows statistics about your collection.
Fair use
Use BookMack lawfully. Do not use it to store or send anything illegal, abusive or infringing, and do not use it to send unwanted email to people who have not agreed to hear from you.
People you add
When you add a borrower, you are giving us their details so we can email them on your behalf. You confirm you may share those details with us for that purpose.
Availability
We aim to keep BookMack running, but we cannot promise it will never be down: maintenance, faults and things outside our control happen.
Your content
It stays yours
Your library, notes, ratings and tags belong to you. We claim no ownership, and you can export or delete them at any time.
Your licence to use BookMack
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use BookMack for your own personal, non-commercial use.
What you may not do
Do not reverse engineer the service, use automated systems to scrape it, interfere with how it runs, or try to reach other people’s accounts or data.
Book information
Titles, covers and descriptions come from Google Books and Open Library and remain the property of their respective owners.
Plans and payment
Free and Premium
BookMack has two plans. Free includes a set number of books, borrowers, loans, recommendations and cover scans each month. Premium removes those limits apart from a monthly cap on AI cover scans, and adds exports, automatic reminders and personal recommendation messages. The current limits are listed on our pricing page.
Price and renewal
Premium costs $24.99 a year and renews yearly until you cancel. You buy it inside the BookMack Android app through Google Play, which charges you in your own country’s currency at the price Play shows before you confirm.
Cancelling and refunds
Cancel at any time in your Google Play subscriptions. Premium then stops renewing and you keep it until the end of the year you paid for. Because Google takes the payment, refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy.
Price changes
If the price changes, Google Play will tell you before the change affects a renewal, and you can cancel if you do not want to continue.
Older website subscriptions
Subscriptions bought on the old website are billed by Paystack. They keep working until they end or you cancel them from your account.
Limits and disclaimers
Provided as is
BookMack is provided "as is". We do not promise it will be free of errors or available at all times.
Keep your own copy
We take backups, but you should export anything you would be upset to lose.
Scanning is not perfect
Barcode and cover scanning use outside services and automated reading, which sometimes get a book wrong. Check what is filled in before you save it.
Our liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before a claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Legal
Our rights
BookMack, its name, design and software are ours and are protected by copyright and trademark law.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms; if we do, you can ask for a copy of your data first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes will be handled by the courts there.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app, and the date below will change. Carrying on using BookMack after that means you accept the new terms.
